Dr Julian Baldwin
BSc (Med) MBBS FANZCA AdvPTE
My name is Dr Julian Baldwin and I will be your anaesthetist for your upcoming procedure. I am originally from country New South Wales and completed my anaesthetic training in Newcastle including a fellowship in retrieval medicine. After practicing in regional NSW I moved to Townsville in 2020 to take up a position as a staff specialist at Townsville University Hospital. I also have an appointment at Mater Private Hospital as a VMO anaesthetist.
I provide anaesthesia for a wide range of adult procedures and have a special interest in anaesthesia for cardiac and thoracic surgery. I have undertaken additional training in this area and passed the US National Board of Echocardiography's Examination of Special Competence in Advanced Perioperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography. I am also a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and teach echocardiography to other critical care specialists. As a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists I participate in both the ANZCA Continuing Professional Development and the NBE Maintenance of Testamur in Echocardiography programs to ensure my knowledge and skills remain up to date.
Australian anaesthetists have world-leading training in all aspects of perioperative care, including anaesthesia, pain control and managing medical emergencies. While you may be nervous about having surgery, please be reassured that having an anaesthetic in Australia is extremely safe. My aim is to make your experience as safe and comfortable as possible. To help me tailor my care to your specific needs please feel free to ask my rooms questions at any time.
